Effect of LED Plant Grow Light on Plant Growth

The plant light time is the time when the plant receives natural light or artificial LED plant grow light. Both light intensity and light quality have their own changing laws, and the same is true for light time:

(1) Light time in summer is longer than in winter; 

(2) Day and night are equal all year round near the equator; 

(3) Days are longer than nights in summer; 

(4) Nights are longer than days in winter.


1. Long-day plants: refers to plants that require a long light time. Only when the long light time is regularly reached during the photoperiod, the plants will bloom and bear fruits, otherwise they will only grow normally and will not form flower buds. Insufficient lighting time for plants has a great impact on them, and it is also the plants that most need to use LED plant grow light to align and fill light.


2. Short-day plants: refers to plants that bloom only when the light period is less than a certain value according to the regular photoperiod, which is the opposite of long-day plants. These kinds of plants generally don't need LED plant grow lights to fill light except for special purposes!


3. Intermediate sunlight plants: This type of plants do not have strict requirements on the light time. It can bloom only if other external conditions are met. Different sunlight lengths have little effect on their flowering, but the light time will affect the growth rate. Using LED plant grow lights can appropriately shorten the growth cycle.


It is very important to understand the light time (the length of sunlight time) required by various plants. Correctly grasping the photoperiod phenomenon of plants can help make targeted adjustments to the growth of plants, use LED plant lights to supplement light, and increase crop yield and quality.
